In the case of a little monkey the mother is killed in order
to be able to collect the priced possession of the infant. In
the case of birds the nest is robbed and the young ones taken
away.
Killed animals are usually sold on the local markets as smoking meat. In addition, they are a in demand and very expensive export article. Many animals are, among other reasons, already threatened with extinction. Unfortunately, there are many other reasons for animals in need such as, especially in the Asian region, for example, the crushed horn of rhinoceros or tiger penis as Aphrodiasikum, remains highly popular. Many other reasons will fill a long sad list.
In just about every single case the wild animal will be
kept in totally unsuitable conditions, with a wrong kind of diet.,
and are used as nothing else but an exotic toy by often cruel
and spoiled kids and adults. Due to less than expected interaction
any keen interest soon gives way to a wrong kind of discipline
resulting in violence. Too small enclosures, wrong food, heavy
chains often remind more of a prisoner than a lovely pet animal.
Other reasons for animals in need are the clearing of rain forests, conflicts with farmers, high voltage wires and traffic accidents.
WPE offers an alternative with the aim for eventual release
them back into the wild and nature habitat.
In Cameroon humans are already active over years to give animals an worth living alternative and contribute thereby the protection of species. WPE will support these humans and will work together with the institutions already existing. Unfortunately, only restricted possibilities are available for a too small number of animals. The extension of existing facilities and the installation of further rallying stations is urgently necessary.
For the affected animals parenthoods, sponsorships are brought to life.
In addition, the orphanage for wild animals serves as a tourist attraction and assists to set up the tourism and to promote the acceptance of the population to the contact with animals. |
